Suspect Arrested for Arson of Involving Former MLB Player’s Home
Protecting your home from arson is a difficult task, but one way to ensure the security of your family and property is to consult with an Atlanta alarm company about the fire alarm monitoring options available to you. These services can alert first responders in the event that you are not home or are asleep when disaster strikes.
Police have arrested one suspect in connection with a June 9 house fire at the home of former Major League Baseball (MLB) player Otis Nixon. According to Fox 5 News, a local affiliate, Cobb County fire officials responded to a call at the 400 block of Bass Way in Acworth, Georgia, around 2:40 a.m. When they arrived, the front entryway of the house was engulfed in flames, and JanMike Mosley, a resident of the house, was trying to put the fire out with a garden hose.
Investigators at the scene ruled the fire an arson and arrested nearby resident Lamine Diaw, who lives down the street. The incident allegedly stemmed from an argument between Diaw and Mosley.
According to the source, the house is owned by a trust in Nixon’s name, but that his son and Mosley are the ones who actually live there. Nixon played in the MLB from 1983 to 1999, principally for the Atlanta Braves.
