Following The Tips Below Could Mean the Difference Between Life and Death
Having a child is one of life’s greatest blessings. But, with all the happiness that kids bring, it’s also critical that parents do their part in keeping them safe. Of course, it is virtually impossible to watch your children every single minute of the day, but there are some steps that mom and dads can take to ensure their sons and daughters remain out of harm’s way while in the house:
Family television network TLC recommends that parents:
1) Keep cleaning materials and other chemicals away from kids
You may not think that your deodorant or makeup is toxic, but it could be potentially dangerous if your child swallows or otherwise ingests it. Once your son or daughter begins to crawl, take advantage of cabinet guards and install them anywhere you store household products.
2) Cover electrical outlets and safeguard kids from electrical wires
Children are notorious for putting things in their mouth, and in order to prevent electrical shock, make sure that you cover sockets with covers, fix any damaged electrical cords and keep your kids away from electrical devices.
3) Close windows and block stairways
Once your son or daughter is mobile, there’s no telling what parts of your home he or she will begin exploring. Heights, whether from the top of a window or your bed, can pose serious danger and so it’s imperative that you never leave your kid unsupervised. Making sure your staircase has a safety gate installed at the top and bottom is also critical. Most small children are climbers and accidents are bound to happen if you don’t take the proper precautions.
While these are certainly good tips, TLC did not include the importance of residential burglar alarm systems.
