Tragedy in Southeast Atlanta Highlights the Need for Strong Security System Monitoring
One of the most frightening things that can happen to a family is to have violent criminals break into the home. As a leading Atlanta alarm company, we see this unfortunate occurrence happen all too often. While it’s difficult to foresee such an incident taking place in your home, a family can prepare for the worst by having a residential burglar alarm system installed in their house to detect break-ins and alert first responders.
On July 3, a mother of two was shot to death in her Southeast Atlanta home during a home invasion. The victim, Camease Miller, was found in a closet where investigators presume she was hiding from the shooter. It was the neighborhood’s third murder in the past few months, but some believe it is unconnected to previous incidents, such as the shooting death of Atlanta resident Patrick Catrona in May.
“The perpetrator or perpetrators picked this person and this dwelling specifically,” Ed Gilgor, Chair of the Atlanta Neighborhood Planning Unit for the area, told local affiliate MyFoxAtlanta. “In a sense, I would draw the distinction with the Catrona shooting. That was obviously a totally random street crime that went severely awry.”
To date, no arrests have been made in the Miller case.
This incident underscores the point that you can never be too cautious about home invasion. Contacting an Atlanta alarm company to consult about security system monitoring is essential to the safety of your family.
