Why American?
American Alarm was created by the current owner Scott Gilkey in 1995. We started out with no accounts and had a hundred or so after the first year. Through the years with minimal advertising and mostly through work of mouth, American Alarm has grown to where we are today servicing and monitoring several thousand security system accounts. We have been a member of the BBB for almost the entire time and have always had an A+ rating.
At American Alarm, we have always had the philosophy that if you treat your customer exceptionally well and make sure they are very happy with your service, they will refer us to there relatives and friends so getting new accounts will never be a problem. So far, that has worked well for us. We feel it is better to keep an existing customer satisfied and a loyal customer rather than take the mass marketing approach and sign up a bunch of new accounts while losing our existing customers. What do you gain by signing up a new customer if you lose an existing customer in the process because you are so focused on new customers? Nothing.
This is why we have never adopted the mass marketing, high pressure sales model for our business model. This philosophy is why you will find American Alarm to be have the most responsive service department as well as the fastest dispatch times in the industry. We are one of the few alarm companies that can offer 24/7 tech support as well as less then 24 hour response time for non emergency service calls.
This philosophy has also carried over into our employees. Most of our employees have been with us 5 years or more and several have been with us since the first year we were in business.
